Au Pair Nanny

AU PAIR/NANNY, BABYSITTER JOBS IN AUSTRALIA

The Job:

If you love to take care of babies and children, working as an Au Pair, Nanny or Babysitter can be the perfect job while you’re travelling Australia.  There are usually plenty of Au Pair, Nanny and Babysitting jobs to choose from offering everything from just occasional babysitting, to permanent long-term positions five days a week. Some positions require a live-in Au Pair/Nanny, where you live with the family and receive a weekly wage plus free accommodation and meals.

As well as taking care of the children, most Au Pair/Nanny jobs will require you to complete light housework duties such as cleaning, washing/folding/ironing clothes, cooking and running errands.

The Perks:

  • Take the kids out to places where you can sightsee and have fun too – local parks, playgrounds, beaches, museums, aquariums, the zoo, the movies!
  • Tick all your boxes by travelling, earning money and SAVING money with a live-in Au Pair/Nanny position in a regional part of Australia.
  • Some regional Au Pair/Nanny positions include Farm Hand duties as a large part of the role – it may help you qualify for a Second Year on your Working Holiday Visa. Ask us about it!
  • Occasionally a family will need Au Pair/Nanny help while away on long weekends or holidays overseas…imagine getting paid while holidaying in a beautiful tropical destination such as Bali or Fiji!

Previous work experience required:

Most people looking for an Au Pair/Nanny (or even a casual Babysitter) expect applicants to have previous experience.

Make sure your Resume is up to date with all of your previous Babysitting or Au Pair/Nanny experience. Include the age and sex of the children plus a brief summary of duties included. References from each family you worked for are essential.

It is also beneficial to have a current First Aid Certificate.

The $$$:

Rate of pay for Au Pair/Nannies or Babysitting varies from $15 to $35 per hour, based on an applicant’s experience and qualifications. Many live-in positions also include other benefits such as free internet access and car use as well.

The word on the street:

“I struck gold when I got my job with the Bailey family in Vaucluse in Sydney’s very swish Eastern Suburbs. I could see Sydney Harbour from my bedroom window and they took me away everywhere with them. The hours can be long sometimes, but I didn’t mind. I loved it.” Lindsay, UK.
