Clinical Trials

The Job:

Participarting in Clinical Trials has long been a favourite way for travelers around the world to earn quick money for their travelling adventures.

While not everyone’s cup of tea, Clinical Trials are often performed by pharmaceutical, biotechnology or government agencies that need healthy volunteer patients to test a new medication or medical device. Usually the patients are required onsite for testing anywhere between 1 to 30 nights, sometimes longer. And best of all, payment is made in full at the end of the stay.
The Perks:

  • Clinical Trials can be a fast way to earn extra money for travelling. Some testing may only take several days or weeks and pay large amounts of money.
  • You don’t need any experience or skills, usually just the time it takes and a healthy body is enough.
  • Feel proud that you have done your bit in assisting mankind in progressing Medical Science… or not.

Previous work experience required:

Other than the willingness to undertake a Clinical Trial, all the previous experience you will need for this job will be to volunteer your healthy body as a specimen to be tested, poked and prodded.

The $$$:

Volunteer patients for Clinical Trials are paid anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on the time, stage (initial testing or subsequent) and potential risks of the testing.

The word on the street:

“Before I went on a 12month trip around Europe, I participated in an 8 week Clinical Trial and got paid a few thousand dollars to test a new medicine for potential side-effects. Years later I have still had no side-effects, but my 12 month trip around Europe was one of the best times of my life.”  Brett, Australia.
